Kwara State Deputy Governor Mr Kayode Alabi sympathises with Jebba community over flooding

Kwara State Deputy Governor, Mr Kayode Alabi has sympathised with the victims of flood disaster in Jebba, Moro Local Government Area of the State.

Mr Alabi delivered the state governments consolation message to the community during a tour of flood-ravaged areas of the Local Government.

” We are really touched with what has happened. The Governor has you in heart and prayers. We pray to God not to witness this again”.

The Deputy Governor assured the community that the state government will promptly provide palliatives to the victims to ease their hardship.

” I can assure you that the government will provide succour to the victims by giving them palliatives”.

Narrating their ordeal, the leader of the Yoruba Community in Jebba, Abdul-Azeez Arisekola explained that the annual flood disaster has overtaken over two hundred houses and has caused hardship to the people of the area.

“We cannot count our loses, the majority of us are into farming and fishing, but with this flood, we have lost everything”.

Mr Arisekola, therefore, appealed to the Kwara State Government to urgently relocate the people in the community to a safer place where they could be living peacefully.

“We have gotten a location at the old Shagari Estate in Pako, Jebba where we want the government to assist in relocating our people as their abode and the flooded area will only be used for commercial activities”.

He appreciated the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for being responsive to their plight.

The Deputy Governor was joined on the visit by the member representing Moro Consistency at the Kwara State House of Assembly Honourable John Bello, two Directors from the State Ministry of Works and Transportation and other government functionaries.
