Following the widespread controversy that surrounded revelations made by the member representing Balogun/Ojomu constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saheed Popoola on a radio program during the week, infallible sources have disclosed that the APC bigwig actually under reported his meeting with erstwhile Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Sources in the Saraki camp who reported how disgusted they felt about Popoola’s disclosure that he received the sum of $1000 from the former Senate President disclosed that the actual amount given to the lawmaker was $10,000 as Saraki was not a man to give out such meagre amount of money to political acquaintances.
It was also revealed that the recent ward tour and media rounds embarked on by the Offa born politician was funded with the Saraki ‘gift’, he also used part of the money to secure a building to house the factional secretariat of the APC, in order to further fester the ongoing wrangles in the party with the ultimate aim of decamping to the PDP ahead of 2023 elections.
It was also gathered that Popoola agreed to work to bring Saraki dynasty back to relevance in Kwara politics, with a promise of an House of Representatives ticket, but will cause commotion in the Kwara South ranks by first declaring to run for Senate.
Furthermore, it was revealed that Saraki has promised to sponsor more media outings in order to help gather momentum for their 2023 plans.
It will be recalled that Popoola disclosed that he had met with Saraki in Lagos a few weeks ago, where he received the said amount of money.
