Honourable Dr. Oluwasegun Alade Musa, a seasoned Transport Planner, Security Consultant, and Logistics Professional with over 35 years of hands-on experience across Nigeria’s critical transportation and security sectors. February marks a significant milestone in his career—35 years of service, leadership, and nation-building.

Throughout his distinguished career, he has occupied strategic leadership positions at both airports and seaports, playing pivotal roles in operational management, security coordination, and policy direction. He served as Chairman at the Airport for 12 years and later as Chairman of Apapa Seaport for 3 years, two of Nigeria’s most sensitive transport hubs. His expertise also extended beyond national borders when he represented Nigeria under ECOWAS, overseeing and coordinating border-related operations across the country.

Oluwasegun Alade Musa is a multinational entrepreneur, leading a group of companies with international reach, including business interests in China. He is a family man, married with children, and the founder of a charitable foundation dedicated to supporting the less privileged—a cause that has defined his personal and professional philosophy.

FOUNDATION OF CHARACTER & PHILOSOPHY
The cornerstone of his life philosophy was shaped by his late father, who consistently taught his children that “nobility of character is greater than title or wealth.” This belief became the compass that guides his decisions, leadership style, and public service.

EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY & PROFESSIONAL FORMATION
Originally aspiring to become an Aeronautical Engineer, Oluwasegun gained admission around 1980s to 1990s, into Miami University, University of Alabama, after successfully sitting for the Scholartic Attitude Test SAT, Achievement Tests, and TOEFL. Test of English as a Foreign Language. However, circumstances prevented him from traveling abroad to pursue this dream.

Undeterred, he redirected his passion into technical and transport-related disciplines:
• Studied Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at MINOC, Gbagada

• Obtained WAEC Technical from Federal Technical College, Yaba

• Earned a degree in Shipping and Port Management from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU)

• Completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Maritime Technology at FUTO

• Earned a PGD and Master’s Degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Lagos State University (LASU), where he was also a Panel Student

• Completed a Master’s Degree in Transport Planning (Maritime focus) at LASU

• Obtained an Advanced Diploma in Infrastructure Protection and Security from University of Lagos (UNILAG)

SECURITY LEADERSHIP & PUBLIC SERVICE
A trained uniformed security professional, Oluwasegun Alade Musa currently serves as the Deputy State Commander of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN). He previously held the position of Assistant Commander (AC) Surveillance for Lagos State, overseeing statewide surveillance operations.

He is widely regarded as a security strategist and consultant, with deep insight into urban crime dynamics, intelligence gathering, and transport-security integration. In his assessment, Nigeria—particularly Lagos State—has yet to fully maximize its security potential due to gaps in policy commitment, intelligence sharing, and strategic coordination.

In 2019, he contested as a Lagos State Governorship Aspirant under the ANDP, during which he developed a comprehensive Security Policy for Lagos State, including the innovative “Instant Response to Crime” framework. This strategy emphasized rapid security deployment within seconds or minutes of an incident, based on the principle that “security is like the air we breathe—everyone must participate in it.”

SECURITY, TRANSPORT & GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
He strongly advocates security consciousness as a collective responsibility, stressing that intelligence gathering is not limited to uniformed personnel. According to him, effective security requires:
Proper intelligence classification
Right-channel intelligence sharing
Integration of transport systems with safety and surveillance

Adoption of global best practices
Drawing from his experience in China, he highlights how technology-driven surveillance—such as cameras in commercial vehicles and real-time tracking—enhances accountability and crime prevention, regardless of population size.

He emphasizes that most crimes are domestic and preventive in nature, and that early detection through community intelligence can drastically reduce criminal activity.

HUMANITARIAN COMMITMENT & LEGACY
For over 20 years, Oluwasegun Alade Musa has dedicated his birthday celebrations to humanitarian service—visiting hospitals, orphanages, and less-privileged communities. To him, birthdays are moments of gratitude, reflection, and redistribution.
He believes that abundance is a divine trust, not personal entitlement. One must take what is needed and distribute the rest, because everyone will ultimately give account of how they managed what God entrusted to them
