Former APC gubernatorial aspirant in Kwara State , Yakubu Gobir has denied the widely circulated report of his defection to the Young Progressives Party, YPP, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a statement on his official Facebook account, Gobir described the allegation of his defection as a total fabrication.

He stressed that the latest news on the 20,000 decampees from the APC to the YPP are mere rumours and speculation that should be ignored as it is untrue.

“My attention has been drawn to various discussions in different media linking me to recent political developments in Kwara State. The general public and all my well wishers should note that any commentary not based on an official statement issued by me, are mere rumours and speculation which should be ignored. At the appropriate time, I will make my position known. Thank you very much for your patience and kind understanding, ” Gobir stated.
