The new European football season gets into full swing this weekend as the Premier League joins La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 in action across the continent. After a summer of major transfers, managerial changes and pre-season preparations, Europe’s top clubs are ready for another season of fierce rivalries and high-stakes football.
Matches across Europe’s top leagues and cup competitions will be available live on SuperSport via GOtv and DStv, with several key fixtures standing out this weekend.
Premier League Gets Underway

The Premier League season begins on Friday night as defending champions Arsenal host newly promoted Coventry City at 9:00 pm. The Gunners will begin their pursuit of another league title against a Coventry side eager to make an impression on their return to the top flight.
Saturday’s action begins at 12:30 pm as Manchester United travel to Hull City, before Tottenham Hotspur face Brentford at 5:30 pm in an all-London encounter.
BRITAIN SOCCER
On Sunday, Manchester City travel to Bournemouth at 2:00 pm, before Newcastle United host Liverpool at 4:30 pm in one of the standout fixtures of the opening weekend. The Premier League action then concludes on Monday at 8:00 pm when Chelsea travel to Fulham for a West London derby.

La Liga’s Heavyweights Face Early Tests

While the new season is beginning elsewhere, La Liga moves into Matchday Two with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona all in action.
Real Madrid travel to Espanyol on Saturday at 8:30 pm as they look to continue their start to the campaign. On Sunday, Atletico Madrid host Villarreal at 5:00 pm in what could be one of the weekend’s most competitive clashes, before Barcelona travel to Elche at 8:30 pm.

Serie A’s Biggest Names Return to Action
A new Serie A season begins this weekend, with several of Italy’s biggest clubs getting their campaigns underway.
Inter Milan face Monza on Saturday at 5:30 pm before Napoli travel to Genoa at 7:45 pm. Sunday sees Juventus take on Frosinone at 5:30 pm, followed by AC Milan’s trip to Torino at 7:45 pm.The opening round continues on Monday as Roma face Fiorentina at 7:45 pm.

Marseille and PSG Lead Ligue 1’s Opening Weekend
Ligue 1 also begins this weekend, with Marseille opening their campaign against Strasbourg on Friday at 9:00 pm.
The weekend then builds towards Sunday night’s meeting between Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes at 9:00 pm, as PSG begin another campaign with the pressure and expectations that come with being one of France’s biggest clubs.
