CHINESE COMMUNITY IN LAGOS CELEBRATE NIGERIA AND CHINA NATIONAL DAY

October 1st is a great day in the lives of two great countries, the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.
Nigeria got her independent on 1st October 1960 while the People’s Republic of China was established on 1st October 1949, which makes the two countries to celebrate their national day on same day, which also
Coincident with China Moon Festival (Mid-Autumn Festival) for the year 2020.


To celebrate both countries National day, the China Community in Lagos organised a cultural show which parade the power of cultures and creativity to unite people of diverse nationalities and background, among the highlights of the show is the donation of cheques to the local communities, schools and charity groups in the country, while receiving the cheque on behalf of all the groups, Chief Matthew Uwaekwe thank the association for their supports and described the gesture as important in building the relationship between Nigeria and China.


Some Chinese cultural dance such as The Lion Dance, The Dragon Dance, The Street Dance, The Flower Drum Lamp and Nigeria Traditional Dance were in display by the Huaxing Art Troupe in Nigeria.

On his part the leader of Chinese community in Lagos and who also is the leader of the Nigeria Huaxing Art Troupe, Eric Ni said ” China and Nigeria share a lot in common, this is not the first time we will be giving financial support to students in Nigeria, we choose to do this to appreciate the good relationship between both countries”.

The events which was held behind close door due to the Covid 19 protocols in Country, will be stream on national television both in Nigeria and China.
