MANCHESTER UNITED, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham will find out their Champions League opponents on Friday, Express Sport ran a draw simulator to test what the most likely ties to come out of the hat will be.
The Champions League quarter-finals draw takes place on Friday morning in Switzerland where four Premier League sides will receive their fate.
Liverpool were the final side to book their place in the hat after Wednesday’s 3-1 win at Bayern Munich. They joined their league rivals Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham who got the better of Paris Saint-Germain, Schalke and Borussia Dortmund.
Also in the draw are Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Porto. There are no representatives from Germany.
In fact, this is the first year in a decade that there hasn’t been a semi-final that hasn’t featured Bayern Munich or Real Madrid.
With the draw set to take place at 11am GMT in Nyon, Express Sport has simulated the draw 20 times to find out which ties come out most. Here are the results…
Champions League quarter-final draw SIMULATED
Man Utd vs Liverpool (8/20)
Manchester United vs Liverpool is a tie that many are hoping to see on Friday morning.
The sides met in the 2015/16 Europa League last 16, but a Champions League showdown would be a whole different spectacle.
It came out of the hat eight times from 20 attempts.
With United now reformed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Jurgen Klopp will be wary of the potential tie.
Barcelona vs Tottenham (14/20)
Tottenham recorded a memorable draw at the Nou Camp in December to qualify for the knockout stages.
And the simulated draw sees them returning to Catalonia for a second time this season.
The tie came out a staggering 14 times out of 20, the most of any fixture.
Lionel Messi scored twice during Barcelona’s 4-2 victory over Spurs at Wembley in October.
Juventus vs Man City (7/20)
Pep Guardiola has been linked with a summer switch to Juventus in recent weeks.
And if the simulated draw is anything to go by, he will be off to Turin next month with Manchester City.
The draw came out seven times from 20 attempts.
The sides have previously met in the 2015/16 group stages, when Juventus came out on top twice.
Ajax vs Porto (12/20)
This tie would be a real spanner in the works for the six other competitors.
With all due respect, the Premier League sides, Barcelona and Juventus will be sizing up the pair despite Ajax’s historic win over Real Madrid.
On the other hand, facing the winner of the contest in the semi-finals would present a good chance of reaching the final.
The tie came out 12 times from the 20 simulated draws.
