On this blessed day, His Eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, offers heartfelt thanksgiving to God for His unconditional love for humanity—a love that has carried the nation and its people to this moment of celebration.
The Birth of a Saviour and the Economy of Man
Reflecting on the economic challenges facing Nigeria, His Eminence reminds us that a Saviour has been born, and in Him lies the ultimate solution to human struggles. The labour we would have endured has already been borne by Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate today. Quoting John 3:16, he affirms that God’s gift of His only begotten Son ensures everlasting life for all who believe. With this assurance, he expresses faith that the nation will cross into 2026 in peace, declaring: “Heads will not roll in Jesus’ name.”
Trusting God in Times of Economic Uncertainty
Dr. Aba emphasizes that the human economy is ultimately settled by the Lord. Just as God provided for the people of old, He will do the same for Nigeria today. Patience and faith are required, for God is faithful to fix the nation if His people make themselves available for His use. He reassures the faithful that there is no need for fear, for God’s intervention is certain.
The Example of Christ
Jesus Christ came as the perfect example of readiness to make a difference in His generation. The world was corrupt, and humanity had fallen through the sin of Adam. Just as a father and child in disagreement need an intermediary, mankind needed reconciliation with God. Without it, the devil would boast of victory. But Christ descended in humility to save His people, and today Christians rejoice in the birth of their Saviour.

Turning to the nation’s leadership, His Eminence acknowledges the efforts of the President while reminding citizens that Nigeria belongs to all. To fix the nation, everyone must join hands and remain patient with its leaders. He notes that economic recession is not unique to Nigeria, citing America’s historic government shutdown as evidence that even great nations face trials. Stress, he explains, is part of the journey of growth, but it ultimately leads to testimony.
Assurance of a Brighter Tomorrow
With unwavering confidence, Dr. Aba assures Nigerians that in no distant time, the nation will rise above its present struggles. He proclaims that Nigeria will give testimony of God’s faithfulness, and the people will rejoice in His divine intervention.
