2027 in View: Cleric Ikuru Calls for National Cohesion, Endorses Tinubu Amid Security Concerns

As Nigeria looks ahead to the 2027 general elections, the founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, Prophet Godwin Ikuru, has appealed to citizens to embrace unity and support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while condemning the persistent wave of insecurity across the country.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos, Ikuru expressed satisfaction with the president’s stewardship since 2023, asserting that key campaign commitments are already being implemented. He emphasized that progress can only be sustained in an atmosphere of peace, cooperation, and shared national purpose.

The cleric voiced deep concern over renewed violence in parts of northern Nigeria, particularly in Plateau and Benue States. He denounced the attacks as detrimental to national development and urged those involved to abandon acts that threaten the country’s stability.

In his remarks, Ikuru also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and major political parties—including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, African Democratic Congress (ADC), among others—to rise above partisan interests and work together to safeguard peace before, during, and after the 2027 elections.

Addressing economic concerns, he argued that the rising cost of goods should not be attributed solely to the federal government, pointing instead to Nigeria’s dependence on imports as a major factor. He maintained that current reforms are gradually strengthening the economy and laying the groundwork for long-term resilience.

Ikuru highlighted several policy strides under the Tinubu administration, including the removal of fuel subsidies, the rollout of the NELFUND student loan initiative, moves toward strengthening local government autonomy, infrastructure projects such as the coastal highway, and improved international relations. He stressed the importance of boosting local production and enforcing fiscal discipline to ensure sustainable growth.

Reiterating his support, the prophet noted that he had foreseen Tinubu’s electoral success prior to the 2023 polls and expressed confidence that the president would earn a second term in 2027.

On the issue of national security, Ikuru urged the Nigerian Air Force to intensify its counter-insurgency operations and provide clearer updates on recent military actions in the North that reportedly led to significant casualties.
He concluded with a call for Nigerians to reject division, promote mutual understanding, and commit to building a more secure and prosperous nation.
