The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with renewed energy as the Female Gender Support Group (FGSG) officially launched the PBAT 2027 Support Movement—a powerful initiative designed to strengthen women’s political engagement and consolidate Lagos State’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Convener of the group, Hon. Kafayat Akinpelu Agusto-Momoh, in her address, described the gathering as “a celebration of unity, courage, and the unstoppable spirit of Nigerian women.”

Speaking passionately, she noted that the group has grown into one of the most extensive women-led political structures across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.

Values Driving the Movement

Agusto-Momoh explained that the FGSG stands firmly on five core values:

Empowering women to participate in governance and community development

Unity and sisterhood, across all backgrounds

Grassroots political awareness, especially for women

Service to humanity, through leaders who prioritize people

Integrity and accountability in all activities

“These values bind us together,” she said, “and they remind us that our strength lies in our collective voice.”

Plans to Strengthen PBAT’s 2027 Support Base

The movement outlined several strategies to ensure widespread mobilization:

Ward-level coordinators for door-to-door engagement

Community sensitization through town halls and market outreaches

Aggressive digital campaigns targeting families and women

Leadership training to prepare more women for political roles

Partnerships with youth, market groups, faith-based organizations, and NGOs

Agusto-Momoh emphasized that the goal is to amplify awareness of the president’s achievements and promote continuity in leadership.

Tinubu’s Achievements Highlighted

The convener listed several strides under President Tinubu’s leadership, including:

Structural economic reforms

Cash transfer programs and student loan schemes

Nationwide infrastructure development

Improved security measures

Agricultural support programs

Power sector investments

Women and youth empowerment opportunities

“These are not just policies,” she said, “but actions already reshaping the nation’s future.”

Leaders Laud Women’s Initiative

Prominent leaders praised the initiative. Chief Rabiu Oluwa commended the organizers and reminded attendees that the economic challenges facing Nigeria existed long before the current administration.

Princess Rasheedat Abiodun Adu, former Chairperson of Iru-Victoria Island LCDA, celebrated the unity among women and applauded President Tinubu and the Lagos State Governor for consistently giving women opportunities.

She dismissed global claims about instability in Nigeria, reaffirming that the country remains united across religious lines. Adu encouraged women to step forward boldly:
“This is our time. Women must remain at the frontline; we have proven that we are capable.”

FGSG’s Broader Mission

The FGSG reaffirmed its identity as a support community built on love, empathy, and shared growth. The group focuses on:

Women’s empowerment

Building networks of support

Gender equality

Emotional and social well-being

Education and personal development

Safety and protection of women

They describe themselves as “one prosperous global family, committed to helping women bloom.”

A Moment of Renewed Hope

In her closing remarks, Agusto-Momoh encouraged the women to continue carrying the torch of hope across Lagos State.

“Let us go forward with strength and unity. Let us support a leader whose vision continues to shape Nigeria. Together, we will achieve more—together, we rise.”

The event ended with renewed enthusiasm as hundreds of women pledged their support toward the PBAT 2027 project.
