Lagos State Government Champions Digital Innovation at GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo
In a bold display of commitment to Nigeria’s digital future, Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat paid a high-profile visit to the MTN Data Centre booth at the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo today. Their presence underscored the state’s strategic push toward building a resilient and inclusive digital economy.
The Governor’s engagement with MTN highlights the deepening collaboration between the Lagos State Government and private sector leaders in driving technological advancement. This visit reflects a shared ambition to harness innovation in pursuit of Nigeria’s US$1 trillion digital economy target by 2030.
Accompanied by MTN’s Chief Operating Officer, Ayham Moussa, and Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke, the state leaders toured MTN’s exhibit, which spotlighted the company’s substantial investments in data infrastructure and next-gen connectivity solutions.
Ayham Moussa also took center stage as a panelist on “The Big Push for Infrastructure and Next-Gen Connectivity,” where he emphasized the importance of synergy between public institutions and private enterprises. “Collaboration between governments, regulators, and private sector players is paramount to creating an enabling environment for innovation and widespread access to next-gen connectivity,” Moussa stated.
The visit not only reaffirmed MTN’s role as a digital backbone in Nigeria’s tech renaissance but also showcased Lagos State’s proactive support for initiatives that promote digital inclusion, infrastructure growth, and economic transformation.
