Lagos Governor and Deputy Visit MTN Data Centre Booth, Reaffirming Commitment to Digital Economy at GITEX

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, today made a high-profile visit to the MTN Data Centre booth at the GITEX Nigeria Tech Expo, underscoring the state government’s commitment to building a robust digital economy.

The Governor’s presence at the MTN booth reinforces the strong partnership between the Lagos State Government and the private sector in driving technological innovation. The visit signals a shared vision for leveraging technology to achieve the state and country’s ambitious goal of a US$1 trillion digital economy by 2030.

During their visit, the Governor and his Deputy were accompanied by MTN’s Chief Operating Officer, Ayham Moussa, and Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke. Together, they toured MTN’s exhibit, which showcased the company’s significant investments in data infrastructure and next-generation connectivity.

At the event, MTN’s COO, Ayham Moussa, was also a featured speaker on the “The Big Push for Infrastructure and Next-Gen Connectivity” panel. He emphasized the critical role of public-private partnerships in accelerating infrastructure development, stating that “collaboration between governments, regulators, and private sector players is paramount to creating an enabling environment for innovation and widespread access to next-gen connectivity.”

The visit to the MTN Data Centre booth at GITEX serves as a testament to the company’s role as a “digital backbone” for Nigeria’s “digital renaissance” and highlights the Lagos State Government’s active support for initiatives that foster digital inclusion and economic growth.
