Christian Youth in Politics Rally Sparks Momentum Ahead of Peace Conference in Lagos

The Christian Youth in Politics (CYP), under the leadership of Princess Oluwafolake Kolawole, has kicked off its 5th International Peace Conference in Lagos with a successful rally that drew participants from across Nigeria. The three-day program, which began yesterday, will conclude tomorrow, November 28th, with the main peace conference featuring senior politicians, traditional leaders, and government officials.

Carrying placards with bold messages such as “No to drugs, no to violence, unity and peaceful coexistence,” the rally emphasized CYP’s mission to inspire Christian youth to step into politics and help shape Nigeria’s future.

Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Danath, described his journey to Lagos as a reflection of his passion for politics and belief in CYP’s vision. “Nigeria is the giant of Africa, but our political system needs reform. We want more Christians to join and make a difference,” he said.

Lagos Assistant Coordinator, Oluwakemi Raple, added: “Politics is not a dirty game if we choose to make it clean. That’s why we are here—to encourage Christians to participate and transform the system.” Raple also shared her dream of one day becoming Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

Ekiti State Coordinator, Adeloju Alaba Olaoluwa, praised the rally as “fantastic” and revealed that Ekiti CYP already has 136 active members, some preparing to contest in upcoming elections. Lagos State Coordinator, Olatunbosun Oluwaseyi, noted that Lagos alone has over 1,000 members, with a target to reach every church across denominations.

With unity, faith, and determination, CYP is calling on Christian youth nationwide to step out of the sidelines, join political parties of their choice, and contribute to building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.
